Immersive Repairs
Keeping the sub alive becomes a real job. Engines burn oil, oxygen generators need filters, vents need blades, hull breaches are welded from outside, turrets wear out, and a failed repair can blow up an engine in your face. Adds a deep toolset, firefighting gear, and new afflictions.

- What it is
- A repairs overhaul by _]|M|[_. Repairs take more time and crew coordination. "Not for people with low patience and a need for speedy campaigns."

- Bots
- Mostly bot-friendly (auto-refill oil, no failed-skill explosions). Known quirk: bots try to repair external turrets, grab a diving suit, then get stuck.
Don't repair a running engine or live reactor without an extinguisher buddy. After every fight or flood, sweep vents and check vent blades, air filters and engine oil — water damages all of them.
⚒Core mechanics
- Right tool for the job: jackhammer for mining, plasma cutter for tearing down structures, etc.
- Outside repairs: turrets and discharge coils slowly wear from use and must be repaired or they fail in combat (they expose a condition output pin you can wire to a display). Hull damage is welded from outside in a diving suit — welders now have shorter range, need precision, and can't weld through multiple walls.
- New repair failures: engines can explode on a failed repair (worse the faster they were running, damaging walls and you); failing on a junction box / supercapacitor / battery can zap/electrocute you.
- Flooding/fire effects: oxygen generators drain O₂ from all rooms when on fire; flooded junction boxes / supercapacitors / batteries randomly zap, start fires, or electrocute the water (capacitors & batteries have a Disable_Output input; junction boxes have no disable pin — a known pain point).
- Sensible Reactors: the same critical-state repair failure as Enhanced Reactors but without radiation — turn the reactor off before repairing.

Oiled engines
Engines need oil; run dry, they degrade fast and explode when they break. Refill with an Engine Oil (or Premium Engine Oil) canister; Hungry Europans' cooking oil works briefly. Engines start smoking at ≤50% condition. Bots auto-refill oil. Premium Oil is unlocked by the "Oiled Machinery" talent.

Air filters (oxygen generators)
Oxygen generators need a working Air Filter. Maintain it by cleaning with ethanol (especially after a flood); replace only if it breaks. Filters have a quality stat (more quality = longer life, more reaction time). A generator won't refill O₂ tanks without a working filter. Caution: turning the generator off to clean the filter has burned subs when forgotten.

Vent blades (vents)
All vents need Vent Blades to function. Blades take water damage (break down over ~14 minutes submerged) — check after flooding. They can be thrown at intruders (damages blade and target). Bots can't replace them — you do.

Hidden loose-vent inventories
You can't tell a loose vent from a fixed one by sight. Open a vent with the Action key ("E") while holding a crowbar to reveal its hidden inventory.

Outside hull / turret welding
Diving suit on, go outside, use the shorter-range welder. Weld hull from outside; repair turrets/discharge coils periodically.

Emergency seals
Place an Automatic Welder near an unreachable leak (auto-welds ~400 HP of wall when water flows; has a manual button too). Or spray Fixfoam from a sprayer + Fixfoam Tank for an instant temporary seal — then weld over it within ~3–4 minutes before it degrades.

Talents added: Firefighter (Mechanic — carry characters at full speed; unlocks firefighting recipes) and Oiled Machinery (unlocks Premium Engine Oil). The vanilla "Hull Fixer" talent is modified.
